Anglers will find some changes when they buy their 2013 Minnesota fishing licenses, which are now on sale from license agents and online. Current (2012) Minnesota fishing licenses remain valid through April 30.

The 2012 Minnesota Legislature raised the prices on some licenses to help the Department of Natural Resources Game and Fish Fund remain solvent. For example, an individual resident fishing license increased from $17 to $22.

Also as part of that bill, several new license options were developed by the DNR. Here are the new license options:

Resident

Youth age 16-17 angling license, $5

72-hour individual angling (no trout stamp or spearing license required), $12

Three-year individual angling, $63

Individual Super Sports license, includes individual angling, trout/salmon stamp, small game including pheasant and waterfowl stamps, a deer tag (archery, firearms or muzzleloader), $99.

Combination Super Sports license (includes licenses listed above, for married couples), $125

Nonresident

 Youth age 16-17 license, $5
