    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
Fishing on Oahe remains slow with those fish that are being caught scattered in Depths from as little as 3 fow to way down to 75 fow. There are very few quality stringers being put together but limits of smaller walleye with an occasional over are still coming in. Sharpe remains good some days but can be tough if the Corps runs the wrong current and the water muddy's up. I guided Darrel Adams and his friend Kenny from Harvard NE to Limits on Sharpe and limits on Oahe with the Sharpe fish we kept in the 17 to 18 inch avg. size range but the Oahe limits were almost all small walleye. We caught the walleye on Sharpe using Gulp and crawlers on bouncers in around 10 fow and the fish on Oahe mostly in less than 10 fow using the same. When conditions are right Sharpe is your best bet as the fish being caught are real nice walleye and it is not uncommon to have at least a 17 inch avg. size bag if you are selective and throw a few fish back under that range. It is harder to do also if you spend a lot of time fishing in the community spots as some of these area's have been fished very hard and have fewer of the 18 inch fish present. The limits we caught on both Oahe and Sharpe were for the most part in area's that had either no other boats present or just a few other guide boats hence the nicer size on Sharpe. Some of the guide boats are using minnows also and some plug pulling is being done and these methods are putting fish in the boat also.
