I was skunked for the first time since December 3 rd. I wasn't fishing to catch, I was fishing to fish. The last time out, I was 3 miles out looking for the elusive crappie on the South Shore. I had some luck with fish, so I decided to move out to four miles out in 14 fow. I didn't mark a fish.

This is what I do a lot when I'm trying to keep guests on fish. During the week I'll go to spots where I suspect there might be fish. Most of the times I get lucky, so now I know where not to send guests.

The ice is very thick at least 20 inches. The snow cover is minimal. I thought there would be enough snow to follow my tracks back to shore. I was wrong. The ice is not as slick as before, but ice cleats are still strongly suggested.

  The south side is an interesting side to fish.  We have fished in 16' of water but have not found a crappie yet.  I still believe they are on that side some where, just need to find them once.  We have caught walleye at all depths out there.  The water is interesting also out there.  From clear to very dirty.  Its an interesting lake, just wish we had more time to discover the lake!!
