   Man dies after being shot by hunting partner in north central Minn.

PARK RAPIDS, Minn. -- A hunter in north central Minnesota died of gunshot wounds after being shot by his hunting partner.
 

According to Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes, 23-year-old Adam Earl Poole of Nevis and a friend were hunting Saturday in a channel between two lakes when they both stood up to shoot at waterfowl. The friend lost his footing and his shot struck Poole in the head.

A call came in at 4:40 p.m. Deputies, fire departments, ambulances and volunteers rushed to the remote location in the Crow Wing Lake area, trying to get a boat with the victim across the lake where an ambulance crew was waiting. Poole had died by the time the boat crossed the lake to the ambulance.

His body was taken to a Park Rapids funeral home, then transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office late Saturday. An autopsy will be performed.

Poole was known as an avid outdoorsman. He married his wife Allison on Sept. 7. His Facebook page featured photos of the groom and groomsmen dressed in satin camouflage vests and hats.

No charges are expected. The incident is under investigation by the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office, which is not releasing the name of the hunting companion.
