Fall holds some of the best fishing on Lake of the Woods! Great numbers of all fish are being caught. Trolling crankbaits still productive in 24-26 or 32-34 feet over mud north of Zippel Bay to Pine Island.  Shallow evening bite in 11-12' in front of Pine Island.  Jigging in 26-29 feet in front of Pine Island, Morris Point, or Graceton Beach.  Spinners / crawlers still pulling walleyes as well.  Trophy walleyes being caught daily, mainly deep water.

On the Rainy River, sturgeon still very active. Don't forget the last day for keep season is September 30!  Walleyes in deeper holes and near edges.  Some shiners starting to show up.  Smallmouth pattern consistent, boulder or rock areas with current.  Cranks and spinners for fantastic bass fishing.

Up at the NW Angle, walleyes hot near Little Oak, the US side of Falcon Island and near Crow Duck in 20-30 feet of water. Try hammered gold or pink blades with either a crawler or minnow. Jig/minnow anywhere from 10-20 feet around structure. Muskies on fire this past week.  Muskies and pike biting on shallow cranks and bucktails.  Smallmouth bass around reed beds and biting on spinnerbaits.  Good luck to the MTT anglers this week.  For more info, www.LakeoftheWoodsMN.com.
