i wonder if part of the reason waterfowl hunters #'s are shrinking is due to the cost of licenses? i was gonna go out this weekend for old times sake with my bro's but when looking at dropping $50 on licenses and stamps compared to $30 for deer and $44 for bear i feel its a rip-off. sure if i was going every weekend from now until nov i might not care. but for your average person thats a lot of doe for a weekend. i see they have a new 72hr lic as well but that only saves you a couple bucks, whats the point of that?
my wife said it.... im OFFICIALLY ADDICTED to MNO!!

That's one of the top reasons I stopped hunting ducks. Going grouse hunting next week for the first time.

I would rather eat a grouse or a pheasant anyways.

I already have the small game or the combo sports licence so the additional fees of 7.50 and 17.50 to hunt waterfowl is what it would cost. I see your point but for me its just being out there. getting a few birds is a bonus. the one thing that maeks it worth every penny is when you see flocks of these birds circling trying to decide if its safe to land.

and from articles I've read the grouse and Chinese chicken populations are way down too, so is that really worth the money also???........just saying.  thetime outdoors to me is alone worth the costs/fees for a license!!!

If they ever had it where one just needed a small games license and the early season goose permit I might give goose hunting a try again around here.  That early season the geese around here are like rats.  Plus when they taste like  :censored: it's hard to find someone to eat them and if I'm going to shoot them it's going to get eaten.

grouse and pheasant can be hunted with just a small games license.. I usually get the sportsman's when I buy my fishing license. and even with the numbers on the down.. it's just fun getting out and looking for em.

I haven't hunted phesants for many years.  Isn't there now a phesant stamp that is also required?

I think it reads if your hunting your own property your exempt. but if your out and about 7$. usually we're out in SD for pheasants. grouse are the principle target where I'm at.

well I don't really have a problem with it. still cheap compared to a lot of other states. just think how often do you use that license? one fee for how ever many days you go. if you don't use it enough then maybe it will make people get in the field more to get more bang for there buck.
