hole sleeves in crank down house

any one have these, if so if one is directly onthe ice what do ya have them cut to in length?

I use 5 gallon buckets with the bottoms cut off.

My brother in-laws fish house cranks down, and he never needs to use hole sleeves.

When theres no snow to bank with I use small intertubes and a bike pump. makes a nice air tight seal around the hole.

Now that ingenuity!. Yeah mine gose down to the ice, but I donot like banking around the wheel well area to much because of the winch an bushings an such.  I dont remove slush an that helps. Although last weekend the wind an cold were abnormal too, but still would like sleeves especially for the center hole that are inline with the wheel well area. I have some 15 inch pvc pipe that fits nicely an figure im gona cut them to lenght about 6-8 inches maybe 4-6 cause the square steel tubing frame is 3 in height plus floor so maybe 4-6 inch sleeves, a little card boar skirting ove the wheel well will also help. Im a newb with the crank down so anysugestion would be great. Thanks

what size inertube u use

The inside diameter of the inner tube is the same as the holes in my floor. I always keep my house blocked up on 2x4 so there is no chance the frame will freeze in. Then I can stick the inner tube under the frame and pump it up until it seals.

hey Mnrealtree that is a fantastic idea. For the small amount of labor and small amount of investment of tubes at the fleet farm That will work incredibly well. What tricks do you employ to keep from snagging the valve stem and deflating when they are froze?

The inside dia. of the tube is the size of the hole in my floor, but larger than the 8" hole I drill through the ice. So I just make sure the valve stem is pointed down when I put them in. This keeps them sitting right on the ice out of the way.
