:reporter; Gamefish seasons end Feb. 23 on Minnesota inland lakes

There is one more week in the game fish season for inland waters of      Minnesota. The season closes at midnight on Feb. 23.

Licensed anglers are allowed to fish continuously for non-game fish species in Minnesota. The 2013 Minnesota fishing licenses will expire on Feb. 28 and a 2014 fishing license will be required to continue fishing beginning March

There are extended seasons for game fish on many of the border waters surrounding Minnesota. Anglers can also travel to locations like Devil's Lake in North Dakota where the fishing season is open year-round for most species.

somehow I missed something. didn't our licenses go to the end of april? I looked at my trout stamp, and it says it expires on the 28th this month. its a good thing I looked at it, as I do some trout fishing in march. I will be getting my 2014 license before then.

About the last two or three years, they had a 2 month grace period for licenses so you didn't need a new one until the 1st of May.
They probably calculated all the interest they were losing by giving up those 2 months of "free" fishing when they changed it back.
