Hey G.O. Talkin Crawlers here.

NO! I didn't teach my crawlers to talk. :doah:   So, anyhow after yesterdays recent crawler gathering and NO! we didn't hold a crawler get together. :banghead:  Now, so far I've got 650 spring crawlers in the garage fridge. Even though I'm in good shape at this point I stopped off at the local tackle shop and asked how much are the flats of crawlers going for. Before answering my question he proceeded to explain how the price this year is going up (as usual) because of the shortage. It seems that the ground in Canada was still frozen and last years left over crawlers have run out.

So I asked what's the going price on a flat going to be? He looked :coffee: in his nifty difty book and said $66.00 a flat. I pay $41.00 a flat direct from a main distributer during the summer. My question is are they spreading the same story up your way. Seems like every year there is a concocted story about some kind shortage Minnows, crawlers, and leeches.

Last year a friend was telling me about a guy in Duluth that owns ponds to raise leeches. He waits to distribute them till the end of summer after there is a shortage. Then he gets top dollar because they are in great demand.

We will have canadian crawlers they will just be late and when they start collecting they will be comming in large quanities!
That shortage stuff is real, but short lived because of weather.Even minnows the weather is playing a big part, but the biggest part is the invasives rules of where you can and cant trap them nowdays.
I only took 20 dozen this year, normally we get between 30-40 doz.The rains this past week made it easy to get 5-6 doz in 10-15 minutes bout the time my body wore out.3 nights in a row made enough for the ole girl to dock fish without me this year and have plenty.
The main minnow producing areas of Mn are now off limits because of zebs, spinys and milfoil.
Now my leeches I order from Iowa,I havent looked at prices but they have africian crawlers along with canadas. If I could remember the name of the place I'd look at costs??? DRUGS!!!!
