Another great week of fishing.  Charter boats continue to go north of Garden Island.  There continues to be big schools of walleyes spread out in 15-25' of water.  Best method has been drifting with crawler harnesses.  Some anglers using crankbaits in the deep 34' main basin with downriggers or leadcore line with good results.

On the Rainy River, walleyes still being caught with jig and minnow.  Target current seams in 15-20' of water.  Smallmouth bass active near tributaries and rock piles.  Spinnerbaits or shallow diving crankbaits doing the best.  Sturgeon anglers still reporting success with season open until Sep. 30.

Up at the NW Angle, strong numbers of walleyes being caught.  Fish transitioning to fall spots, which are deep water points and neck down current areas.  Most fish caught jigging in 20-25'.  Muskies active with numerous fish 45-52" caught and released.  Maps, lodging and fishing info at www.LakeoftheWoodsMN.com.
