the mama's nice walleye!

I havent been able to get the mama out fishing at all yet this season, but the opportunity presented itself this afternoon.

I asked her if she thought her ma would be willing to watch the kids for a couple hours this evening and she said she'd check.

I told her I'd like to take her out to one of my favorite walleye haunts and when she hung up the phone, she gave me the thumbs up.

we dropped off the kids and raced to our destination without a minute to waste.
we dropped our lines and within minutes she had a nice eater fish in the bucket!

we got her line back down so I could continue setting myself up and her bobber dropped again.
"oh honey, this is a big one" she said.
I did my best to coach her through and a few minutes later with the aid of our buddy Goose, we were guiding this fish she was certain was going to get off, up the hole and in the house.

the fish bit steady and we all filled out. the most important thing about this outing was, that after fifteen years of being with me, when ever she has gotten a nice fish, I have managed to pull one up just a bit bigger.
not on purpose, but enough times for her to believe it was a curse.

how do they say that on that commercial...?
"THIS TIME PAYBACK IS FOR REAL!!"

the larger of the two was twenty four inches.
she agreed that it was to smal for the wall and to big to eat, so it went back down after the photo opp.

Nice fish. Sometimes the primal instincts kick in and its hard to suppress and continue to allow the ones we love to think they are the better fisherperson....... Its Ok Mrs Jigglestick, admitting it is the first step and I think with this post he is somehow finally facing reality.

My name is Woody, and my wife outfishes me all the time.  (When I let her come with me)  It isn't easy to accept it when it happens, but here is a thought that helps me get through.  I tell her-"she had a helluva guide!!"  Just say it a couple of times, and you'll feel better about it!
