I just found out that the Krispy Kreme at I94 and White Bear Ave (about a mile and a half from my house ) HAS CLOSED.   :'(

Cripes; I thought I gave them enough business myself to keep a franchise going.  ???

The sign says a Wendy's is going in there.  Like we need another Wendys; the ones around here have really gone down hill in food quality the last couple years.

Thanks Woody.  I need an ENABLER.
I did the search, the Coon Rapids store was the closest one that showed up for me and it's 20 miles away.  Not saying I won't make the drive when I get the hankerin fer a dozen.  It's just that 20 miles is kinda a kick in the gut when I'm used to only 2 miles.

The most shocking thing about my search was the Mall of America didn't show up on my search results.  Does anyone know if that one has closed too?

Des,

I'm not a real donut freak, but the Kwik Trip Krispy Kremes or whatever they are called, seem the same to me.

You've obviously never had one "fresh off the line"  :-*

and I mean literally out of the grease, under the frosting, picked off the line with a tongs and handed over the counter still warm

Do I sound like an addict now?

Naw...just a connoisseur of deep fat fried rings of dough!   I was going to mention that Holiday gas stations carry KrispyKremes as well...but you are right...not even close to the same!

Now if they'd just put a Krispy Kreme and a Cinna Bon up here in Alexandria!  ;D

I live less than 3 miles from the CR store, man your right about them hot out of the oil.

OK,

Here's step #2 in the 12 step program :o

The corporation has seen its stock price sink from $50 a share to less than $9 as its sales have sagged and health officials in Chicago and New York have sought to ban the artificial trans-fatty acids used to make the product.
So, has the corporation responded by eliminating its unhealthy ingredients? Of course not. Instead, Krispy Kreme has taken the old path of denial and dissembling blazed years ago by the tobacco giants. The doughnut chain has even brought two former tobacco executives into its top management ranks, where they are directing its damage-control campaign. The execs are expected to bring to doughnuts the same aggressive strategies that were used to glaze over the problems of cigarettes.

PS.... I'm not anti Krispy Kreme. Just trying to help with the 12 step program ;)

Hey Des

I was just remembering when you picked a bunch of them on the way up to URL. Stopped and dropped a dozen off at the albatros, boy they must have been good as tween scabber and scroungie they managed the first 13 of em. ??? Those kids are pretty sly when it comes to that sort of thing. :)

Here's a photo of my oldest in front of Gone Postal's shack just one or two days after I delivered those donuts to the Albatross.
He's definitely cut from the same cloth as scrounge and scab.
He gets up at 4am to go fishing with me because he knows we're making a stop at Krispy Kreme on the way.
