I am in need for some quality ice fishing line.  I typically use Berklely Ice (mono) 6# test on my med. action rods.  I went to my local Fleet Farm, and all they had left on the shelves was 1 & 2# test lines, that won't cut it.  They did have a Power Pro ice line, but for $8.00 a spool-I don't think so.  I've got 4 rod/reel combos to spool up, so cost is an issue-to a point.   I'm just wondering what everyone else uses and recommends.  I did a forum search, but came up empty.  Oh, and I'm planning on buying new line on Sat. so I'll need the reply's by then.  Thanks in advance!

???  hey woody ! what i use is the stren blue in 4 and 6 at 5.00 for 100 yd spools. the next time i respool it,s going to be the new line on the berkley line half the diameter and lasts 3 times as long for 3 times the price ! but if you dont have a snap off or a running pike peel it off it should be a great trade .

Are you going to put the same line on all of them? If so you should be able to buy a bigger spool to do all of them pretty reasonable.

I also spooled all my reels with the Cajun line this year and have been very happy with it.

Another cajun ice line user.  I respooled one of my reels with it this year and have been extremely happy with it.  Doesn't coil up half as bad as some of the other brands I have used.

Griz, yep I'm going to spool all 4 up with the same.  I've got 4 UL rods with 2# test.  My light action rods also have the same line 4# test.   It makes it easier to buy a larger spool.  I'm considering putting 6# on the new med. action as well as the light action rods.  I'll check my local bait shop tonight or tomorrow for their selection of line.

well nobody listens to me, but do yourself a favor and look for spider wire mono thin and strong. very affordable.
if you find it, (it's readily available), buy a spool and fill a couple reels with it. I use 6 pound or four pound. very happy with it and it's modest price.

Well, I did what I said I wouldn't

 I bought 50yrds of Burkley Fireline Crystal...Micro Ice 2#($4.96)

 fished with it yesterday afternoon

very limp, has just as much ice build up as anyother line.

Myself, I could see in the water...Can a fish? time will tell

Got a snarl in the line..it wasn't fun to get out. The stuff is very small Dia. and not easy to see which way the twist is.

VERY STRONG!! almost inpossable to cut, bite or chew off

Did catch the most fish of any afternoon..was it the line?  Maybe

 Try it again this afternoon

Just an FYI, Wally Mart (St. Anthony) has various Berkley, Stren, and Spiderware on clearance. It's about 40-50% off.  Spiderwire mono is only a couple of bux.  Don't want to step on any sponsors toes here as I like to support my local shop, but seemed like a good deal.

I had a lot of trouble with the Berkley fireline Crystal Ice.

The stuff is terrable if you get a tangle, nots up and you are screwed bad. Had to spool off about 30ft of it, that is after only one day of fishing with it. Another NOTE! DO NOT USE A STRING KNOT BOBBER STOP!!!! as you slide it up and down changing depth. It frayes the line and if it cuts one strand of the FireLine. It bunches up at the bobber stop and your done!

Stuff is comming off tomarrow!!

I hate spending the dough but the Vanish Florocarbon in 4lb is all I fish with in winter and 6-8lb in the summer.  I think its worth the extra money.
