    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
Fishing around Pierre on Sharpe has turned around some. I think the weeds are starting to die out on Sharpe bringing a lot of the walleye out to depths (5 fow to 10 fow) where they are easier to catch. Most boats going out recently have been coming in with nice fish. Oahe is also starting to see more fish up shallow so when weather permits fishing the big lake is not a bad choice especially if you like seeing less boats. The smallmouth fishing on Oahe is still excellent with lots of 4lb or bigger fish in daily catch's. I guided repeat customers the Stuemiller father/son duo to a nice limit of smallmouth some northern and some nice walleye on Oahe then took the Chris Robinson group of Rapid City out for limited results in big wind managing some walleye, northern and white bass. Both were real nice groups. I then guided George Thomas from Pennsylvania and his son for a nice limit of walleye on Sharpe and then a nice limit of Bass and a couple of walleye on Oahe. We caught the walleye in shallow water (5 to 10 fow) and the bass in around 20 to 35 fow. We used nightcrawler or minnows on btm bouncer's. Fish are being caught pulling plugs/Jigs and gulp with a lot of presentations working. I think I can describe the bite as good and getting even better as the fall temps come down. Weather will start to be more of a factor to consider now so coming over with plenty to wear is a good idea.
