With only one deer on the ticket this year, does get free passes.

I'm hoping to see a few does go by Saturday morning before I see any bucks.  I always get a little jittery when that first deer goes by and it's nice if it's a doe so you can get those jitters out of the way.

I once saw a doe and a fawn that were browsing on some bushes about 100 yards from me and the doe gets all excited (I'm thinking maybe a buck is coming) and then a fox jumps out.  The doe puts her tail down and starts to browse again and the fox chases the fawn in a circle about 10 times around the doe while she just stands there eating.  Then the fawn turns around and chases the fox around the doe a few times.  They both stop, look at each other for a few seconds and the fox trots off while the fawn stares at it leaving as if to say "Come back and play some more!".  It was a pretty cool thing to watch.

If we get another mild winter I'm guessing we'll be seeing a lot more "managed" and perhaps some "intensive" areas again in the next couple of seasons.  Based on what I've seen on the trail cams there's a big boom coming.  I haven't seen as many does with 2 or 3 fawns as I've seen this year.
