    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
I guided the Veit Corp group of guys from the Twin City area for a couple of days of fishing and bird hunting. Another example of a Corp paying for a great bunch of guys that make them money. We fished in the morning on Sharpe and did not put that many fish in the two boats that were out speaking to the spotty bite I have been warning about on the river. It seems like one day it is a morning bite then the next they go in the afternoon making these half day trips somewhat of a guessing game. Oahe is spotty also and both bites are weather related but for the most part fish on Oahe are being caught in around 15 fow and on Sharpe in around 10 fow with jig /minnows or plug pulling being the baits of choice. Fortunately the bird hunting part of this trip for the Veit guys was great and they all shot limits in the afternoon at the Steffen Brothers Ranch making everybody happy. The way I will sum up the fishing bite is real nice 18 inch average size walleye and some days limits but if weather is bad or corps is running not enough or too much current hard. Still if you can get in on some of these Indian Summer day's coming up it sure can be worth it. Bring the warm, dry clothes along from now on.
