Brett Favre has finally admitted that the motivating factor for signing with the Minnesota Vikings after a one-year stopover with the New York Jets following his bitter divorce with the Green Bay Packers was to exact revenge on the team he cemented his status as an NFL icon.

The premiere of NFL Network’s “The Timeline” entitled “Favre Returns” is slated to air following the “Thursday Night Football” showdown between the Packers and Detroit Lions. And in it, Favre confirms what’s long been assumed.

“I wanted to play for anyone who would play the Packers,” training-087 he said.

Favre of course incurred the wrath of Packers fans who of course felt betrayed by his defection to the hated divisional :puke: rival Vikings. And it all came to a head when Favre returned to Lambeau Field in enemy purple.

“I was so frightened of failing you can’t imagine,” he said. “To say in those two games I really wanted to play well is an understatement.”

And play well he did. :happy1: In that Nov. 1, 2009 showdown, Favre had a phenomenal game, going 17-for-28 passing for 244 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-26 Vikings win. The victory completed a season sweep for Minnesota over Green Bay that season, :cheerleader: as Favre and the Vikings beat the Packers by a score of 30-23 earlier in the season at the Metrodome. And Favre played brilliantly in that game as well. In his first start ever against the Packers, Favre 24-for-31 for 271 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-23 victory.

Favre played one more season with the Vikings in 2010 and it was nowhere near as successful as the previous year’s campaign, which featured two losses to the Packers. :doah:

Of course, even though many Packers fans vowed to never forgive Favre for his betrayal, time heals all wounds. And the long-awaited reconciliation between Favre and the Packers culminated with his jersey retirement in front of a jam-packed Lambeau Field on Thanksgiving night last week.
