Men escape injury when SUV goes through ice

 Feb 2, 2016

 :coffee: ......
Two Pequot Lakes men escaped injury Monday night after their vehicle went through the ice in the channel between Lower Hay Lake and Upper Whitefish Lake in about 2 feet of water, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office reported.

 :police:
Deputies were called at 7:48 p.m. and learned Cory Anderson, 25, Pequot Lakes, was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer when it broke through the ice in the channel. Anderson and his passenger, Jacob Nelson, 25, Pequot Lakes, were able to exit the vehicle and walk to the shore to a residence where they called 911. No one was injured in the incident.

Arrangements were made to have the vehicle removed from the water.

Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reminds residents to be cautious when traveling on area lakes. With the warmer than average winter, ice conditions vary from lake to lake and should never be considered safe.
