Support the :bs: Forest Service/Obama Proposal to Protect the Boundary Waters

On January 13, federal agencies kicked off a process that could provide long-term protection for both the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and its surrounding watershed.

The United States Forest Service (USFS) has submitted an application to protect 234,328 acres of Superior National Forest that feed directly into prime fishing areas in the Boundary Waters. As part of this process, they’ve launched an environmental study designed to identify what makes the Boundary Waters so unique, so special, and so sensitive to pollution. In other words – a place that needs to be protected. Public comment is an important component of this process. The USFS needs to hear from fishermen and women like you.

:reporter; More Fake News!................

Tell the USFS that you support protecting this fishing paradise.

Many are surprised to learn that this unmatched fishing destination isn’t already protected. Places like Basswood Lake – where catching 100-125 smallmouth bass is considered “a good day of fishing."

In Northeastern Minnesota alone, tourism supports 17,000 jobs and $850 million in economic activity. It also supports hundreds of manufacturing jobs.

It’s hard to imagine hundreds of thousands of fishermen could be cut off from America's most visited wilderness.

Send a comment to the USFS today and tell them you Don't support the proposed withdrawal of mineral leases from the Boundary Waters watershed.

More Panic peddling! :puke:
Now is the time to be an advocate for the Boundary Waters. You may think that protecting this American fishing treasure is a no-brainer, but there are people who are organizing against these recommendations in an attempt to block them. Stand with us to make sure that doesn’t happen.

That was the posting that was put on the Midwest Outdoors Magazine & TV Facebook page. :taz:

 Now for the truth :happy1:

 :coffee: .......
A new group called Fight for Mining Minnesota :happy1: has formed a Facebook page and website to combat these postings. They hammered the Midwest Outdoor page about posting such a misinformed piece. Really got their attention and they pulled the post of their page.

This is the message sent to Midwest Outdoors that should also be sent to Keep America Fishing.

tut_tut-3315.gif "Your advertisement that mining occurs in the BWCAW hurts thousands of sportsmen, the tourism industry, and, most of all, the miners and residents who live here. Note: THERE IS NO MINING IN THE BOUNDARY WATERS NOW, AND THERE IS NO PLAN FOR MINING THERE IN THE FUTURE. The Boundary Waters is a federally designated wilderness park covering one million acres of land and water, but it does not consume all of northeastern Minnesota. It has borders that require permit entry for visitors. Mining has taken place alongside the Boundary Waters for more than 130 years; yet our water, land, and air remain pristine. WE TAKE CARE OF OUR HOME! Your media effort offends thousands who hunt, fish, work, and live in northeastern Minnesota. Please check your sources before blindly sharing harmful untruths. We expect you to correct your egregious error immediately."
