Early ice is dangerous as hell. Underwater springs still working at any top ice that may have formed. Wait until it's been cold a good while, and you get a minimum of 4" EVERYWHERE before you walk it, while you check with that spud that you should never be without...

Only the front tires were on the ice.  My wife got supper mad until my daughter laught and told her that the front tires were only a foot onto the lake. I may be stupid but I'm not crazy, or maybe that's the other way around.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

We were at Warroad the other day.  There was ice as far as I could see from shore on LOW.

The 1st report from URL was from a outfitter & he said there was ice as far as you could see, with 4" everywhere they drilled. The next 1 mentioned a 100' wide crack, getting everyone off safely & closing the access.
