I should of read the whole article.  I was already pizzed off when I saw 40 moose allowed to be killed.  But I looked it over more and I see there will be more than 40 killed.  24 more can be killed by the poor and starving Fond du Lac Band [they own a casino up there].  The poor and starving Grand Portage and Bois Forte  members can take another 18 I see as well.  Wonderful,   we don't want those poor starving souls  to suffer.  good luck.

24 plus 18 is 42, rounds off to 40.   We made a deal when we got the land.   It's at the pleasure of the president so maybe we could get Trump to end the fishing and hunting rights.

Again that is why I will never spend another dime at an indian casino and I do all I can to spread the word to others to do the same.

I don't gamble either, but it isn't like they asked us to come here and take over.  We made a deal to get the land

And how many years ago was that. I'm not apologizing for something that happened moons ago. They made a deal and now don't want to honor that deal

If, by deal you mean the treaties giving up the land, they kept the right to hunt and fish and gather on those lands.   That right is "subject to the pleasure of the president" which means only the feds can take it away.

Nobody or at least not me is asking you to apologize.  You just need to recognize that the natives are entitled to take some game and fish in the area we took over from them.   It was part of the deal.

You don't know what the population data that they looked at to make their decision.   And if the DNR and the non-indians were so concerned about the moose they would be whacking a lot more deer in the moose range since having a bunch of deer around is incompatible with having moose also.

What's the DNR doing to save the moose, besides not hunting?

What a shame that the indians choose to exploit the meager moose population to get their political jollies.  What's next?  Open season on the Rez on loons?  Maybe an eagle hunt....  Not one dime of mine will ever be left on any of the reservations.

Loons and Eagles are protected by the Feds, and natives (and wind power companies) are allowed to kill some eagles.

Deer are a huge threat to moose.  Tell the DNR you support intensive deer harvest in the moose range. Deer hunters have been objecting,
