:reporter;    Silver Bay native catches big trout

 :coffee: .....
Tanner Viola, who grew up in Silver Bay and now lives in Whitefish, Mont., caught a 38-inch lake trout while fishing on a lake near Whitefish on Jan. 13.

 :fishing: .....
He caught the fish in 70 feet of water on a half-ounce jig tipped with a white soft-plastic. He was fishing just off the bottom and fought the fish for about 15 minutes on 10-pound-test braided line, he said. A friend helped him bring the fish up through the hole.

  ....
"It was obviously the biggest fish I've ever caught in my life," said Viola, 26, who graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in 2013.
The line broke after the fish came out of the hole, and Viola's fishing rod dropped into the hole and went down. :doah:

"I looked at it as a fair trade," Viola said.
He released the fish. :happy1:
