A wolf ripped open their tent and the dad had to fight it off to protect his family. The guy in the tent next to them came to help after hearing the screams.

That is rare for sure.  Didn't say if they had food in the tent.  Glad that there wasn't any further harm to that family.  Sounds like a lone wolf.  Here in northern Minnesota wolves are getting less wary of humans in reports that I have seen.  One example was on the Gunflint Trail.

A guy was driving up the trail when he spotted a large wolf on the side of the road.  He said it was the biggest wolf that he ever seen.  He pulled over to take a picture of it.  The wolf came across to his vehicle and started to circle the vehicle, sometimes rubbing itself on the vehicle.  He yelled at it and it slowly walked away.  Makes me think , what if a jogger was there or a bike rider.  good luck.
