Leech,, wanted some pictures from last weekend trail work.  I didn't have my phone with me while clearing/cutting trails because it most likely would get lost of broken.  However, on Saturday evening while preparing supper, (venison steak with potatoes, carrots and onions in tin foil of course) I had the pleasure of watching some of nature at its best.  First a doe and her twin fawns fed in the plot by the cabin.  The doe fed the fawns mostly ran around. The were joined by another doe and fawn and a single doe.  After about 20 minutes the three closest to the corner of the woods were alerted to something.  After some posturing and stomping they left the field.  As suspected soon after they left a big buck appeared under a white oak tree.  He proceeded to rake the lower branches knocking down small branches and acorns.  This is the first time I saw a buck do this.  Great display of dominance and ingenuity.  First buck I have seen this summer/fall without velvet.  After he had his fill of acorns he proceeded to feed across the plot forcing the remaining doe and fawns to higher ground.  I ate in the porch and watched the show for about an hour before the last deer left the field.  Great finish to a long days work.

Doe and twins (about 100 yards away, hard to get good picture through window and screens)

Big buck under white oak tree at 100 yards

He eventually got to within 50 yards.  Very nice 8 point.  High, wide and heavy.  I would shoot him.
