Ok so I was thinking today of all the gear I've bought this year (season) for ice fishing.  And I know there are some gizmo's, toys, tackle that I'll just have to have for next year.  Now don't get me wrong, the Mrs. is usually REALLY generous when it comes to me buying fishing stuff here and there.  Afterall-it's for the good of the whole family.  I've been blessed to have a wife & 2 kids who LOVE to fish!  So it's not just for me.  So let's tally up purchases I've made so far:

-Strikemaster Electra Lazer Auger                           $275.00
-Lowrance M68c Ice Machine                                   $325.00
-4 Berkely Lightning rod n reel combos                    $68.00
-Lowrance H2Oc GPS (I soooo love this thing!)       $269.00
-Lakemaster '06 Promap chip                                   $50.00
-Approx. $30.00 in new lures/tackle                         $30.00
-Big Buddy Heater                                                     $100.00

That's $1,117.00!  :o  So do I even dare think about getting a larger portable being as they'll be on sale shortly or not press my luck any more this year?  I mean, my wife is generous-but not insane.  And I dont' have money growing out my backside-every dime is hard earned!  So put yourself in my shoes before you answer.   ;D

What you did is not healthy. You should not keep track of that stuff and you should really not post it. What if your wife saw that! Heck i don't even like to remind myself! :o

You had better be careful! ;D

Holy cow I think you are on to something Mayfly. If I recall correctly, in the Manlaw book, chapter 13, subsection IV, it does state something about not keeping records of sporting goods item bought.  Subsection V says something about advertising it (if I remember right).  Ooooooh the shame, oooooh the humility.  I can only hope my actions can be forgiven and that my wife never hears of this post! :-[

  • The brothers with my 2006 buck.
If you are not a smoker you can look at it like this. If you smoked a pack a day at approx $4/pack, over the year it would cost you $1460. So by my calculations you still have $343 to go! Plus, when you smoke you get cancer and cancer just doesn't taste as good as fresh fish. So, if your wife (heaven forbid) finds this post, give her this equation. If she doesn't see the light, and she probably won't show up the next day with a pack of cigarettes! Probably won't work worth a crap... but it would be funny!!!

2) Fish fries aren't illegal, but cooking meth is.

3) Thank GOD you haven't succumbed to buying GOLF stuff.

The responses to Woody's "situation" by his MNO buddies are priceless.

I'd love to have that list printed on a business card and kept in my wallet. Better yet print it right on the front of the credit card. Everytime my feeble brain starts reminding me of all the reasons why I shouldn't be buying a new piece of equipment - whip out the master list, "...yup at least I'm not buying crack... maybe I should get two."

Cha-ching. Now what else do I need?
