I'll keep this short. I had someone knock on my door and offer to buy my house South of I-Falls. Totally unexpected. Anyway if I accept the offer I will need to start looking for somewhere to go. What can you all tell me about the Rainy River towards Loman and west. I'm kinda of a Pike guy is there a decent population? SM & Walleye? How about the depth? Can you "run" the river or do you need to putt along?

I'm really clueless and would welcome any info you guys may have. Also, if there is anything for sale you are aware of please let me know. You can send it via DM if you like.

Thanks, Brian

It is almost like 2 different rivers.  The one above (east) Manitou Rapids and the one below (west) of Manitou Rapids.  Above it is shallow, especially this year.  All kinds of rocks and sand bars have show up that show you how shallow it is.  Below the rapids it is pretty much deep all over.  There are old pilings from the logging days in spots but if you honor the channel markers in spots you are just fine. I am not familiar with it close to I Falls but people fish it.  There is the landing right at the Y Junction on Hwy 11 and the one on the Big Fork.  I don't think you could launch a boat on the Big Fork now cuz it is so shallow.  I wonder how the fishing is right below the dam?  Those are usually real good places to fish.  I have always been a river guy.  I like lakes too of course.  When we go to the Falls there is always places for sale on the river.  Take a drive and check it out.

Manitou Rapids is just east of Birchdale.  The creek at Lohman is so low you could take one big step and be across it without getting your feet wet now.

Yep, LPS is probably your best source for river info. I live up on the lake. But like he said the river is deeper on the west end. Plenty of walleye to fish over here. There are smallmouth and pike to. Just need to learn the areas.
Hey look your bobber is up!
