Anybody got any idea how to tell how old a scout knife is?
Long story but I was recently given an old Boy Scout knife that, I've been told, belonged to my best friend's dad. That might make this knife from the mid to late 1930's.
It's a folding knife. One blade, screwdriver/bottle opener, can opener and one small blade that I have no idea what it does.
Anybody know how to date this or know where I might look for a clue?
      Thanks.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.

If you have the form I'm thinking of, they have been around for a long time.  I would start by googling images of vintage boy scout knives and follow the links to knives similar to yours.

My first pocket knife was a Kamp King.  It followed the same pattern to many Boy Scout knives.  It seems that there were many different makers that made this style and you'll see how the blade designs changed slightly from maker to maker and over time.  The 4th blade (on mine at least) was a leather punch.

I saw one like this on EBAY for $25.

Thanks. I did do some research. The knife I have was made by Ulster from 1963 to 1985. Since my buddys dad served in WW II, I doubt it was his. So either it was my buddys knife or it was my knife.
I'll discuss this with him when we have a meeting of the bourbon council. We sit around, drink bourbon (or scotch or brandy or whatever) and smoke cigars. He and I have been best friends since about 1962.

I inherited a few of them from an in-law when they passed away. He had like a 100 pocket knives.
I thought I hit the jack pot, but sadly found out most of the Boy scout knives were knock offs from the guy I brought them to.
