If you have never been to a fort snelling funeral full blowin with military honors it really hit's home...I thought I was good, had my shete together until they played taps, good grief, lost another very close friend, actually more than a friend, just thankful to be above ground these days, life is short enjoy everyday the best you can.

incase you are wondering about this little cloth bag,it holds the empties of his 21gun salute,I was his only family,we had 3 bikers stop and pay homage and give a salute...as I was alone with the rifle squad.

Sorry to hear that snow. My sympathies.

Sorry, Snow.  I can't keep a dry eye when the bugle blows either.

It is an emotional reminder that all those who server are part of something bigger; as big as our whole country, as long as our entire history.

When playing taps at veterans funerals in high school, there were two of us. One of us would play near the grave site. The other would go off to the far side of the cemetery, hide behind a tombstone or arborvitae and do the echo once the first guy was done. Especially on dreary. foggy days, it could sound downright haunting. As I understand it, sometimes it's hard to find even one person to play taps, let alone two. Sad.

Dotch, somber moment forsure,it's been many years since I drove thru the fort snelling cemetary,I decided to visit my grandfathers grave yesterday as well ,it's a wake up call to us all for so many who made the ultimate sacrifice, the sea of grave stones.

I laid my good friends favorite picture  on his urn of  our favorite canadian walleye lake and also placed his favorite hat on his urn,boy if that didn't hit home, safe to say not a dry eye.

They played taps at my dad's funeral and it flat out sucked    a classmate of mine played them.

That second person doing the echo thing would be haunting!
