I recently purchased an ifinderh20c and the 2007 Lakemaster chip.  I am having a hard time time finding the lakes on the GPS.  Is there something that I am missing, or is there something wrong that I am doing??  I have the unit in advanced mode, and the chip is installed correctly.  Thanks

The chips are plug and play, my guess is the H2O is not reading the chip. Try taking it out and putting it back in, you should see a picture of the chip on the bottom right of the screen when you turn it on, if your not seeing the chip loading image, then something is wrong.

Wiggle the chip around and maybe even add a spacer in between the chip and the piece that holds the chip in place. A small piece of paper should work, just enough to make it a tighter fit. If it works, then you should see the chip load.

After that, bring the H20 back to the store and get another one, you shouldn't have to jimmyrig it.

Something else, Ive learned, regular batteries are slightly larger than the rechargeables, reg batteries will give a tighter fit for the chip compared to the rechargables. Sounds stupid.... I know, but I'm guessing you have rechargeables in the H20?

Try regular batteries.....

I have regular batteries in it.  I will try to put a shim in it and see of that helps.  When the chips is out the screen that says- do not use your primary source of navigation.......- However when I have the chip "in" after that screen, a promap screen comes up..... ::hittingself:: ::hittingself::

I see a little chip blink in the lower right corner right as the H2O starts, but after that, there is nothing......... ::banghead:: ::banghead:: ::hittingself::

I can get to the "Browse MMC Files" and then it says 000-0108-203_Lkprr84.6MB.  I have the 2007 chip- I wonder if there is problems with the new one

I also have the 2007 chip. I run my H20 in easy mode and have no problems.

What exactly are you not seeing? What lake or lakes?

I do not see any of the lakes.  It turns just like normal.  I just see a map of the US, or wherever I have zoomed in to. ::banghead::

The alarm screen is normal, i get it too, just hit exit.

Try to scroll to Mille Lacs and then zoom the lake and see the different contours. Not all lakes are on the chip, so if your looking at a small lake near your house, it may not be on the chip.

I take mine in my work truck everyday, helps me find my way around the state. As much as i use it though, there are a lot of features that i need to learn myself.

I got mine last year with same lake chip. Works really well although sometimes when I was on a lake the GPS showed I wasn't- a few degrees off. I think it may have something to do with what you have the detail set on-normal. medium, or high. I usually run it on medium. It really worked well on St. Croix around Kinnikinnic Narrows.
