With the rapid melt we have had I have run into some water problems. While I was away at work it pooled up by my front door and started to leak underneath my door. Well the carpet absorbed and absorbed lots of water.

To get this water sucked up and out of the carpet what do you think is my best bet??

A heavy duty carpet cleaner? Or would a shopvac do the same thing.

I have been using a small carpet cleaner and it sure sucks it up and cleans it very well but I need something about 10 times stronger and bigger.

Thoughts?

Run the hose by the front door for a while and then we can all come over to your house this weekend and do some open water fishing. We'll stock the living room with jumbo Perch and Slab Crappies.

We can either use waders or make some type of home made boat. What can we use for the boat.... Any ideas?

Did I hear a hot bite @ Mayfly's?  I will pick up the canoe tomorrow and put the trolling motors on the charger.  What time Thursday?

I had something similar happen at my last house. I used a shop vac to suck up as much water as possible and them pulled the carpet up and put anything I could find underneath to hold the carpet off the floor. Then used fans to blow under the carpet to dry it out. After all that you will want to replace the padding because even if you get that dry, and it will take a long time,  it will most likely stink forever and become moldy.

If you bought Federal Flood Insurance it may be covered for new flooring and any other water damage that may have occured. (i.e. the lower part of your sheetrock walls absorbing water).
If you don't have Federal Flood Insurance you are SOL.
