I watch a lot of hunting videos on YouTube. My favorite are educational, like tips & tricks. Over the winter I saw a few that talked about hanging licking branches or vines over a mock scrape. The deer use it for communication kind of like dogs mark by peeing on trees or fire hydrants. Anyways, I decided to give it a try. I cut several 6 foot sections of grape vines from a friends place and brought them to our hunting land Memorial Day weekend. Tied them up about 3-31/2 feet from the ground. Made a mock scrape, then peed in the scrape. I put a game camera by each. Low and behold it works. Everyone has had multiple deer stopping, licking the vine, rubbing their head (forehead gland) leaving their scent for other deer to check and do the same. We have had doe, fawns, and bucks stop by each. Not sure if it will help during the upcoming hunting season. But I thought I would share.

Over the years I used Mock scrapes a lot. Its a lot easier to bring a deer into range of your deer stand by making a mock scrap than it is to put up new stands near real scrapes. I would often hang a scent dripper over them with wildlife research golden estrus scent in it. It worked really well. Shot some of my best bucks over mock scrapes

I was sold on mock scrapes many years ago. I always said, if I became a pro hunter, that would be the only product I would endorse.

I typically make a few per area I hunt and they ALWAYS get hit by bucks. I prefer the day drippers but hav eno problem using “homemade” pee as well.

Found a scrape next to my barn two weeks ago. Wasn't big, about 10" x 12". Hubbard Co. I have had cameras set up on licking branches as well. Great pictures.  :happy1: :happy1:
