Northshore

Anyone have any suggestions for the up coming stealhead run on the Northshore of Lake Superior?

Looking for some suggestions, I am hoping to try and hit it up mid-april.

Hey Bum,
The shore is socked in yet.  LOTS of guys jigging loopers through the ice out in front of the Lester and French.  Lots of snow inland, too, which is good and will make for a nice run-off and looper/steely runs.
Mid-April sounds about right.  There will be fish present.  If not in the rivers themselves, then surely they'll still be staged out in the lake near the river mouths.
Loopers are primarily bug eaters in the lake while staging, so throwing nymphs is always a good bet.  If you'll be spinning, looper bugs under slip bobs tipped w/ 1/2 crawler or waxies works well.  Also slinky rigs floating a spawn bag or inflated crawler/mini marshmallow off the bottom will do the trick.  Or...casting spoons.   In the rivers, the loopers behave and respond to all the typical steelhead patterns and swung flies.
I'll be up there too in April.

If you actualy want to Fly Fish, I'd use an egg pattern down deep or fish an egg sucking leach. Black or purple work well with a pink, orange, or red head.

Not a fly guy, eh?  An egg sucking leech is basically a woolly bugger with a egg at the head.  A fly tier took two effective patterns and combined them into one very effective pattern for both trout and salmon.
