In January of 2024 a group of us from Pennsylvania were booked to fish the NW Angle with Flag Island Resort. FIR never opened for ice fishing and we lost our $600 deposit. We have fished numerous time with Arneson's on the south shore and have had great experiences, but wanted to try fishing the north end of the lake for a new adventure. We are looking to book a trip in Early Jan 2026, so we have time to figure things out. What would be some recommendations for resorts to use at the NW Angle? Cyrus took over Flag Island, but I am worried about booking with them as we lost our deposit last time. I have heard about, Sunset Lodge, Sportsmen's Oak Island, and Red Fox Ice Fishing. I am interested in feedback from those that have fished with these resorts or any others resorts that I might be missing.

I stayed at a place in Angle Inlet one time in early July. I think the place changed hands since we were there. I remember that they shuttled people out to fish houses in the winter. I love the area but just never made it back up there.
Oh, and Welcome.

I've stayed at the Sportsmen's Oak Island, nice place and they have a bar and grill. My buddy had a Snowbear we fished all the way up one day and all the way back the next.  Check out their web page.

Welcome aboard!! I have never dealt with any of the resorts up at the angle. I do know that Cyrus is a top notch resort on this side of the lake. Sunset and sportsmans I have always heard good things about to. The head honcho of our department has a brother that owns a resort up there too. Supposed to be good. Smaller resort. But can't remember the name
Hey look your bobber is up!

I stayed at Sportsmans Oak Island resort when we did the census of every American island one spring.  Was great!  We fished right off the dock with cocktails as it got dark and caught a bunch of nice walleyes.  It wasn't very busy at that time of year so the owner told us to make our own drinks and bring them on the dock.  Great food too!  You have to drive a ways to get there though.  Have a guide to get you there.

Was cool as heck.  We rented a boat at Sportsman Oak Island but had to hire a launch to get us there from Jerry's cafe where there is a landing.  Then we went to every island and documented every house.  There are hundreds of houses.  Was a big job but fun to be there.
