Here is a report from various lakes in the Ely area:

Snowbank: Denny from Smitty's reports that some walleyes are being caught in 8-9 feet of water, and bass fishing is very good. Bass are reported to be in less than 5 feet of water.

Shagawa: Jim Bettcher, owner of Shagawa Inn, said guests were catching walleyes in the late evening in 8-10 feet. A few northern and bass also reported.

White Iron/Farm: Gary at Silver Rapids Lodge says northern up to 39 inches still being caught along the shore of the RV campsite, and off their docks. Walleyes and crappies caught in good numbers in 10-14 feet in Farm Lake.

Burntside:  Few nice walleyes caught, but some beautiful Lake Trout, up to 32 inches, are still giving fishermen good action. Bass fishing is picking up, some being as deep as 15 feet.

The rain we got yesterday put Burntside up about 3 inches, and dropped the surface temp down a few degrees. It is still warm though, 54-56 degrees, but appears to have stopped the fish from being active. ??? The wind didn't help moving around the lake today to try to find some action.

Glad to see you got some rain there. Let's hope for a lot more to come. Quick question for you Jim. Down in Illinois the price of crawlers per flat has just jumped up. The explanation given is due to the drought in Canada. Have you experienced a recent price jump with the same explanation in your area or are they just trying to inflate the costs?

No difference in the starting price this year from last year, Lee. They sometimes start a little high, but many times maintain an even keel throughout the year.
