what is the best training collar for a lab that will be used for both water and upland?  i want a nice one but i don't want to waste money.  i have been looking at the dogtra ones.  there are so many models out there.  some say for pointers and some for retrievers what does that mean.  i would also like want with a page/beep/vibrate and one that you can change intensities on.  thanks for the help.

if someones got one for sale or knows where the best place to get it let me know.

E-collars have come a long way. The beeper etc are to find a dog when on point. many collars have a locator which is nice to locate a dog when you cannot see them. Of all the collars we sell the most common question is which is easiest to use? They all have +&- to them. Plz tell me what it is you're looking for. Just a correction collar, or alittle more. I do sell a lot of collars to guys w/flushing breeds with a locator button or beeper. That way they can locate them in heavy tall cover. All collar manufactuers have a plus and minus to them.

Retriever collars are totally waterproof including the transmitter and receiver.

Pointing dog collars are also waterproof, except for the transmitters are only water resistant.

As far as using them on either dog, it doesnt matter, they all have basically the same features, some are 2 dog models, some are designed to be coupled with a beeper.

I use a Dogtra 202NCP (2 dog) it comes with 2 collars, 1 transmitter, dialed intensity, pager and locater. I like the smaller transmitters that Dogtra offers, I wear it around my neck on a strap and cant even tell its there.

There are also just your basic training collars without the bells and whistles, they work very well also and are usually less than half price of the others.

Ask yourself what your budget for a collar is and what your intentions are, as long as your lab is allready trained, using a collar is a wonderful tool.

We use the Tri-Tronics G3 sportsman. The reason we use tri-tronics is we had a  Tri Tronic collar that was at least 9yrs old and it finally went. I called Tri-Tronics and they gave us a good price(almost a 100.00 off a new collar by sending in our old one. They have great customer service and they stand by their product. That is important to me. Our new system you can run 3 dogs on it and it cost 179.00 with our trade in.

Ive got a Dogtra basic collar but it has a warning page vibrate that dosent zap and most of the time that'll be all ya need to get your dogs attention.  I had never had to use an e-collar on any of my dogs till my current one and it works great and Im very happy with it!    -Thunderpout 8)

I have the Tri-tronics Pro 500 G2 EXP. (3 dog system) I am new to it, but its a great system from all the reviews I have read. Has 6 stimulation levels with a Low, Medium and High for each one. So basically 18 stimulation levels. You can choose continuous or momentary.

Pro 100 and Pro 200 are very similar. I would have to look at the specs. But one has more continuous levels and one has more momentary levels. For not much more the 500 has all the options.

It was highly recommended by many field trialers.
