Take home date

Does anybody out there in MNO land have any info on how long a lab puppy should stay with their mother before you bring them home??  Thanks

I'm no expert, but 7-8 weeks is about right.

My pups go to their new owners at 6wks -7wks old. Doesn't matter whether it is the labs the shorthairs or the Chessies all moms wean their pups between 3-4wks old.

Vickleschessles.... (i think?) What is the down fall of taking one home at 5 weeks, and are their any +'s to taking one home at say 10?????

I prefer to not let them go till they are 6wks old but in a couple of circumstances I have let them go at 5wks (only a couple times in 24yrs) as far as getting them at 10wks especially in the chessy I like them earlier as If there is still quite a few pups in the litter say 1 of those pups keeps getting picked on by other littermates it can make them timid. For the most part they are ok. I have even purchased a pup at 6 months old that only knew its name and turned her into a good hunting dog. Dedication is the word.
So the reasoning at taking them home at 6-7wks is they are at a age where they can adapt to change with minimal stress.
