Anyone else out there getting ansy for the 2007 deer rifle season?  I know that I am, I can hardly wait!  My husband and I go for the whole week, so we have 10 days of just hunting,...and NO KIDS!!  It is always sooo much fun!!  What a way to spend our vacation, huh?  I wouldn't have it any other way though...it is absolutely the best vacation every year!  My first year out about 5 yrs ago, I just sat in the stand, didn't see anything, I only went for the one last weekend, so really only one day.  The second year I went out opening day and got a spike, and practically peed my pants, I was so darn excited!!  My third year a got a fork and a big doe, last year I got a very nice 7 pointer, I was completely thrillled!!  ...So this year who knows what is in store for me...I just hope I see something!  I don't trophy hunt like a lot of my brothers do, I'm just happy to be out there!  What about all of you, do you trophy hunt?  Or is it "if its brown, it's down"?  I would like to here some other points of view on this.  ANYWAY...I'm just really excited for the season to start!!  I CAN'T WAIT!!   party3.gif   GG

10 days with no kids hey?  No wonder you like it so much.
If ya don't know where ya are, go back to da beginnin.

Deer hunting is my favorite time of year.  I can't wait!  Our hunting party is not a trophy hunting group.  Although we do have a few trophy bucks over the years.  The hunter with the biggest buck over the years is my dear grandma.  She shot a 15 point monster in 1981.  She is still hunting at age 76.  Two years ago I got my biggest buck a nice 11 pointer.  We never fill out, but we always get deer.  It is more about spending time with family and friends telling stories of past hunts.  When deer hunting ends, I am sad for a couple of days...but then it is time to start thinking about next season!   fudd.gif

I am with GG and OJ, deer season is the greatest time of year. We go to Bemidji for the whole week and stay with my parents. The kids always did their homework while we hunted. My wife started hunting about five years ago and loves it. So far I think she has gotten three deer, all does. She was the first in our party to get two at the same time (oh yeah I hear about it every year too). This year my oldest son gets to hunt with us and I dont know who is more excited about it, him or me. We are meat hunters not trophy hunters. So far I am the only one in our party to get any real antlers. I have gotten a nice 12 point, descent 10 point, and a perfect 8 point and some smaller bucks as well as does. I always figure the rack is a bonus but you cant eat the antlers any way. Too darned crunchy. I have been itching for this since last november.

Oh yeah the kids have always helped with the butchering. Hope you get to use that video I sent to you OJ.

Good luck to all.
