Ely area 10/01/2007

With all the rain in the area, fishing has become quite a challenge.
Burntside has a surface temp of about 58 degrees that extends down to 31 feet.
Fish appear to be scattered in all lakes with walleyes coming in at 6-30 feet. Northern and bass are the same. No reports on trout.

Water is  almost at historic levels currently, so look for super high spring water if we get any amount of snow this winter.

Quite a few partridge in the area.

For up to the minute fishing reports, call me at 218-365-4744 before 10 am daily. I have 45 years fishing experience in the Ely area, and have owned and operated the Great Outdoors Bait & Tackle for 23 years (over five times longer than any other current shop owner within a 40+ mile radius) If I don't have an answer for you,  will call someone that does, and get back to you. Unfortunately there has not been much to report, too inconsistant.

Many fish being taken, but size, depth, etc. all differ.

Of course, with 58 degree water from surface to 31+ feet leaves alot of guess work for the angler! ???

Greatoutdoors, we stopped at your shop 2 weekends ago on Friday and picked up some crawlers and a few other things.  I
 even pcked up some marinade at your shop.  Very nice place.  Unfortunately you weren't in.  We did pretty well on the grouse (partridge).  It was a great trip to Ely.

I'm changing the inside, more shelves, lotsa cedar in the cabin decor'/candle section. Gonna put more items in there.

Not much fishing going on, that's why no reports lately.

Will be re opening in early December when the ice is about 4 inches thick.
