Spearing is about to open
Spearing is coming. I was out and checked the ice on my favorite spot and it's going to be a go. I may put my house out there on friday so it's all set, then I could just got out there with my spear and decoy and have at them. Part of why I like this lake early on is the fish are so aggressive. I have seen up to 3 in the hole at one time and near 40 in part of a day. The fish are not real big but there are some dandys in there. Seldom does a fish come in nice and slow to look at ur offerings, it's usually like a frieght train. Even the smaller ones will hit it with gusto, hard enough to wiggle my shack a bit. I'll be bringing enough decoy minnows to handle the anticipated action. I just can't wait already starting to lose sleep over it.
