Mille Lacs Report
Launched on the North side and started drifting 3' - 6' snells with leeches.  With one eater added to the live well and a 24? CPR?ed, we decided to move to some rocks.

Saw a couple caught on the rocks and nothing else, so we met up with my cousin.  I jumped in his boat and we decided to drift a few times a cross the rocks.  A few quick strikes but no hookups and we were starting to plan our next move.  Buddy called and said he CPR?ed a 24?.  We drifted one more time and one more call from the buddy saying he just released a 25?, we were off to meet up with him.

I went to a 10?snell and hooked up with a nice eater.  Next line down I added another eater.  My cousin got into the action with a nice eater, when I felt a tap.  Hook set and nothing is moving.  My drag starts to head out so I tighten it up a little, it starting to budge.  I figured a nice pike the way it was fighting, but I was hoping for that 30? walleye for the replica.  It came short of my 30? but it was a nice 26 ??.  A few pictures and back in the water she went, with no problems swimming away.  My cousin takes two more eaters on nightcrawlers and a 20 ?? CPR'ed and we had had enough fishing for a weekend.

Hope to have pictures soon of the weekend.  Camera is a little on the fritz right now.

Well it sounds like most had a great opener on Mille Lacs. I heard reports of fish being caught anywhere from 6 feet to 22 feet of water, and they were great reports from both. It seemed that everything was working. People who trolled and casted cranks after dark had good reports, the bobber bite was good, and people who opted to drag lindy's around had success as well. Sure there were some who didn't catch a thing but the majority went home happy. I also heard of a lot of fish in the 24-26 inch range being caught. I didn't get a lot of fishing done myself. I spent time cleaning and organizing the shack and other minor chores that had to get done. We also had to leave early due to a situation at home. I will hit it hard this Friday. Heading up in the am and will be back sometime Sunday. After hearing of all the success I look forward to my first fish fry of the year!! ;)

Anyone else heading up this weekend?

I will be around every week from at least Friday to Sunday so if your headed up let me know and feel free to stop by and say hi, we are in MTB.

 ;)

I might be up Sunday...  Depends on if my cousin can get out of work and/or if I can talk my "basshead" of a brother to fish walleye for a day...

Man do I have a big fish itch!!!

Mille Lacs is hot! I talked to Chris Kuduk today who was fishing with Gary Roach and they said that everywhere they went they caught fish. The best bets are sand during the day and morning and find rocks in the evening. It is a pretty general report but he said that they are biting good everywhere. The weather has even turned them on more so. Now is the time, Mille Lacs is in great shape and there are lots of fish in the 24 - 26 inch range which makes for some fun! I'm looking forward to Friday ;D

Hopefully i'll be back Monday with an awesome report and some pics!

Great opener on Mille Lacs.  From saturday morning to Sunday afternoon the bite got hotter and hotter. Only wish I could have prolonged it for another day or four..... even better though, I got to see my son pull in his first, second, third and fourth walleye of his early fishing career. :)
