I've been contemplating building something similar.
 Except my pup is about 70#'s ... not sure something like that would hold him and his kennel.

Looks like a good idea but I'd want a cantilever or some support post going down to the frame.  Also, I'd put it through a stress test with weights of way more (double??) than my dog so that I'm sure it would support the dog's weight.

 you could come up from the trail hitch receiver with suport frame work. just pin it in like you would the trailer hitch.

Yep, that and weld it...wouldnt it be sweet if it was all arc welded aluminum?  But yeah good idea...I always wondered about the exhaust fumes when contemplating makin somthing like that....bird dogs have reeealy sensitive noses,  my setter freakin HATES cigarette smoke and smoke in general.....     -thunderpout

I also am concerned about exhaust as when having a back rider with feet hanging over with the fish house behind there is exhaust coming out.  However we travel pretty slow on the ice at this time and with more speed it may not be a problem.  Geno

Get yourself a drop basket for rear of quad, line with carpet, fasten with tiewraps, train dog not to jump out till given command, easy if you start them as pups. We have large springer.
