There is about 12"+ in the bays and I have been out to Kings hump with my pickup where there is 11". I have found as much as 14" where the ice is bare like windblown and road areas.
Use caution farther out where the ice is snow covered. I have found as little as 9 inches.
If you need someone to fish with on Mille Lacs I am available most of the time and live close to the lake.

I may have to take you up on this in the summer...My schedule is weird and it seems that most of the time I get up everyone else is working.....

Took the snow machine out to Spirit Is. from Cove Bay this afternoon.
I did not fish but drilled a few holes. About 14" of ice under bare spots around S.I and about 12" in the snow. I did not find any slush except around ridges and a couple of cracks. Drilled a couple of holes around Kings Hump and found similar conditions. Went over by rocky Reef and found the same thing. There must be 15" in some of the older roads but I did not drill any holes in them  ;) Seems like the ice is pretty consistent to me.
