The past few weeks have been filled with highs and lows, but now it looks like we are on the high side again. A slow day bite has been providing for a very decent evening and night bite. The Walleye still seem to be pretty light to hit the jig and a little work is needed to get the hook set. I have found that they need to be worked up off the bottom, dropping your jig into the mud and pulling it back out several times and then letting it sit 6 inches from the bottom works very effectively. The Pike are swimming in the same regions as the Walleye and are really aggressive when the come around, sometimes taking several lines at once. This really makes a mess but it's kinda fun.
The Crappies are coming. From the reports I've heard, they are on their way over from the reservation and should be here late February and March. Only time will tell how soon it will be. We do Have some openings in March for fish houses and cabins available, so book now.
