We are looking to explore some new campgrounds in 2009 and are looking for some suggestions of places others have been that they would recommend.

We are looking for:

-located in southern Metro area or in south central / south eastern MN
-sites large enough for 30' fifth wheels w/ 30 amp electric and water
-dumping station or sewer hookup at site
-biking trails nearby
-swimming and playground for the kids
-nice family oriented atmosphere/activities

If anyone has a place they would recommend, please post a reply in this thread or feel free to pm me.

Thanks!

Scott

there are a bunch in so. mn, there is a fairly nice campground
in welch mn. right on the cannon river and cannon valley bike
trail. gets a little loud down by the river, lots of partying at
night.there is a nice campground in sturgeon lake called
blue water campground. right off the Munger bike trail and by
the soo line atv trail. let me know which area you prefer, when
i was at the RV dealership i did all the service calls, so been
to 100s of campgrounds.

The only one that I know of is Beaver Creek Campground in Caledonia. Great natural trout stream running through camp, playgrounds, showers etc. Beautiful country down there. If you happen to make it, make sure you check out Niagra Cave.  :happy1:

I haven't been to Whitewater State park in the summer, I only flyfished it in the winter months but it has to be beautiful then too.  It sure was in the winter...very peaceful and remote.

JC let the secret out... Beaver Creek is a beautiful park, have frequented that State Park many times trout fishing while down in that area when turkey hunting... very interesting area of the state, close to the bike trails and other things the family can do... oh yeah, did I mention the trout fishing? :fishing2:

Beaver Creek is a wonderful campground and I would definately recommend it to anyone. Most of the campgrounds between Preston and Houston can satisfy the swimming, canoeing, and biking if that is what you are looking for.

Eagle cliff and Hwy250 campgrounds are both excellent choices (Lanesboro), but I don't know if they have playgrounds and/or pools.

Then there is the old barn resort, which has all of what you want, but I have heard that the waiting line is long and the prices are steep.
Marry an outdoors woman. Then if you throw her out into the yard on a cold night, she can still survive.

thats the one i was thinking about, kind of a dump when you
first drive in by the office. but once you get past there, its
a nice campground.
