Well the "Politically Correct" thing to say around "Outdoorsman" is CPR and then get a replica but I say no way!!

If I catch a 50+ muskie that thing is going on my wall! Why would I put a replica on my wall? If I am going to get a replica I might as well just save my money and get a nice framed picture of me with the fish! You know they are replicas and if I want to savor the moment with a mount I want the real deal. Not a "fake" muskie. What is the point?

I feel this way about all fish. I'm not wasting any money on replicas. I will say that Artistic Anglers does a darn good job on crappies but I would still get the real deal.

Oh I like the idea of the replica just so I could eat it and still have a cool trophy.   :kermit:

If I caught a 52" Muskie, I'd:

1st-Poop my pants
2nd-Take picture of Monster Muskie
3rd-Release Monster Muskie
4th-Have replica of Monster Muskie made
5th-never swim in that lake again!

Correction:
4th-cleanup/change spiderman underoos
5th-Have replica of Monster Muskie made
6th-Never swim in that lake again! (at least while wearing my Free Willy swimsuit)

*On a rare serious note, it would depend how injured the fish might be.  Some fish you catch are just fine when you release them, others might go belly up.  To me this is another one of those questions where you ask 20 people, you'll get 20 different answers.   :coffee:

I'm with Tim on this one. I would mount the real thing. If I didn't I would CPR it and blow the photo up and frame it. I would rather have a real photo than a fake fish. The photo is real and looks it. A replica is a fake and looks like it. Now my opinion may change when and if they can make replicas look real.

Another option is a carving. I know a guy who hand carves and paints the fish. Now that is way spendy. I've seen his work and his carvings are more realistic than your normal replica.

I agree with Pat, sorry if anyone took me wrong, Im one the most easy going promoters of the sport there is, thats one of the reasons I like this site.  Unfortunetly the problem with these damn computers and email is that emotions and actual intetnions are always taken out of context.  Like I said the other day..out of control fishing electronics are creating terrible anglers in the end and computers and text messaging are slowly but surely reducing the effectiveness of the most basic human need for anything to function smoothly--personal communication(s).  If anyone wants to talk , meet me , we'll split a pic of beer and solve all the worlds probelms in 30 minutes.  LOL have a good day, Capt. Yeah its all good Josh.  Everyone will have different opinions.

I stated mine very shortly but no one blinked an eye at it.  The truth is, I catch very few fish which equals none in my freezer.  So if I did get so lucky as to land this monster, he'd be mine.  Other people feel otherwise and Im not going to try and change their minds.

That is it exactly! It is hard to read someone through just text. The smiley faces and emoticons help a little but its hard to read people on the computer.
