I think it is time to get your perch equipment out and ready. I was out with my buddies Dar and Marie on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend. The perch are just now starting to move in, as a school, not a pod of fish. The feeding times are from 7:00 am until about 11:30 am and they are feeding pretty regularly during those times. After that it will be hit and miss. I did get my limit each day by 11:30 am or so along with others that were out fishing this weekend.

There are also some walleyes being caught along with the perch. Marie landed a nice 25 inch on Sunday morning. As we were coming in on Sunday, the creel guy was at the landing. He had been out all weekend around the lake and said that he had not seen 25 fish all over the lake, let alone 25 perch in any one bucket. His comments were; you have the best bite on the lake Rockman, and if you are getting your limit every day, you definitely have a bite going on, compared to the rest of the lake that has nothing going on.

So, as I told you on my last report, when I find them I would let you know. Well, I think that I have a good perch bite going on now. It will only get better as we start to get rid of the snow cover, as the weather starts to warm up. The perch are spitting up all kinds of snails and halgimits, so I know that we are not far from where they are feeding. I will be looking for that feeding area this week.

I will fill you in on the lures and colors, location and bait needed if you email me at info@rockyreef.com. That way I can gauge how many people will be up for the bite and using the access. I will need to have the access knocked down one more time and at 300.00 bucks a pop that can get pretty expensive, if the weather pushes the ice every other day. So let me know if you will be making the trip up this weekend, other wise I will not spend the money on the access.

I can get out with a sled if it is just going to be me and some of my close friends. The perch are all really nice 10 to 12 inches, that is what we are getting for now, but that will all change when the schools of fatties come in. There are going to be some really nice days coming soon, so do not delay on this bit of inside information. As you know, it will not take long for the word to get out and the people will be here in droves.

Do not miss out on this bite, while it is here.

Have a Great week and we will see ya this weekend!

Good info John.  I will check with my fishing partners and see if I can't get them to switch from a metro fishing day to a Mille Lacs day.   :fishing:

We got out at Rocky Reef on Saturrday afternoon.  John told us where to go, and we apparently got the wrong spot.  John came out and stopped by and told us we set up in the wrong area.  Ugh.  When we moved to where he pointed us, we had 4 very nice perch on the ice within 15 minutes.  We also missed for or 5.  After that it completely shut down.  Not another fish the rest of the day.  We marked many, but they weren't biting.  John said to be set up by daylight.  I will try to make it up there again possibly Friday or Sunday, and I will be sure to be there early this time!
