The panfish in the BEmidji area are on fire! Now is the time to be on the ice checking your favorite pannie hole in search of crappies, bluegills, and sumo perch. Just be nice to the fish, and don't hit on 'em too hard, as they're vulnerable this time of year!

Lakes Bemidji and Plantagenette are both putting out some nice perch. Leech and Cass are as well. Fish seem to be indifferent to depth, as we've seen them coming from 11' of water out to 46' of water. Small jigging spoons tipped with a minnow head or eurolarvae has worked well.

Crappies and 'gills are moving into shallow o2 rich water with the melting going on. Look to 5-12' flats, with cabbage weeds helps. Fish are hungry, and biting anything you toss down, RatFinkee's tipped with euro's has been a good producer as of late.

We filmed on Friday for 5 hours and probably caught 200 pannies. The bite is ON!
