After close to 2 months into the season, how does everyone feel about having Carlos Gomez in center vs Torii Hunter? I was very disappointed to see Torii leave Mn, but this Gomez kid is very exciting to watch.

Torii's 08 stats

Year   AB  R  H HR RBI BB  K  AVG  SB
2008 168 23 48 5  24  11 28 .286   3

Gomez 08 stats

Year   AB  R  H HR RBI  BB K  AVG  SB
2008 168 27 48 4  17   6  45 .286  16

The stats are almost identical, Gomez strikes out a bit more, but he makes up for that with his speed on the bases, he is on pace for 50 steals and maybe close to 20 HR. Gomez is also a lot more patient at the plate now, most of his strikeouts came in the first month of the season. Both players are outstanding in the field, Gomez has allready made a few highlight plays. Torii also plays for a better overall team.

I still miss having Toriii in a Twins uniform, but Gomez is still young and will only get better, i like the new centerfielder that we have now.

If we look at what each of the two teams (Angels and Twins) pay their centerfielder for that production, the Twins are way ahead for their investment.

I really liked Torii, but Gomez has filled his shoes very well.

Pat I agree with everything you said. One stat that I found particularly interesting is that our run production per game goes up by one run when he's in the line up.
