Fish On Bait and Sport
Glenwood, MN
Lake Minnewaska

Wow...what a weekend!  I told you that my wife was out of town and I was going fishing...and I mean going fishing!  Looking at that full moon all week has just about killed me.  Here are the stats...

Friday - 17 walleyes with the biggest at 27".  It was a pig...my hand could just grip around the shoulders.  It took awhile to release her but once she got her stamina back, she ripped off with a heavy splash of water.  I was in 3.5 to 6 feet of water on the south side of Minnewaska pulling a F11 Vampire at around 2.2 to 2.5 mph.

Saturday - 11 walleyes in about 3 hours (1:30 am to 4:30 am).  Nothing huge but alot of fish in the boat and alot of hits as well.

Sunday - 7 walleyes from 11:30 pm to 1:30 am.  As soon as the overcast shut out the moon, it seemed the walleye bite stopped...so we headed in to get some sleep.

I should also mention that I probably caught over 30 smallies during all of this as well.  They were ferocious.  Biggest was only a 17 incher...I really thought I was going to get a 20 inch fish but it didn't happen.  I was also looking for the 30+ walleye too.  Maybe tonight?

Still a great day bite for walleyes on Priest Point, School Point and The Hole.  I picked up a few at 10 to 12 feet along Swenson Point and Halvorson Point.  But I was saving my energy for the night fishing.

Big sunnies all over...just get to 10 to 16 feet for the really big ones.  I usually get a limit of nice sunnies as I pull my Reef Runners during the day for walleyes.

Big Pike...picked up a couple more really big ones at 26" and 28".  Alot of smaller ones as well.

Bass all over!

Fish On!!

Minnewaska has just been great since the opener.  There was only one weekend that I really could not find the fish and I think that was due to the high winds turning the lake up.

What is really odd...I am always the only one out there at night...where is everyone?  Sleeping?
