Another chapter in this series...  This one is a tough one to write. I have never claimed
to be a bobby or dotch. Scott Johnson is the next in this series. Scott has had some unfortunate things
happen in his life but has made the best of it. He is another one that I have never met, but we will,
next year at the Fire And Ice BBQ contest on the big pond. The rest of this post will be
bits and pieces from emails and a few of his websites. PS: Sorry the about the way this is set
up, but computer problems again....

I started my team after my wife passed away from cancer. We started a 501c3 foundation in her memory and I donate all profits for cancer research and to assist those that are effected by cancer. To date, we have raised almost $100k for these causes. We like to travel all over the US, so you might see the Cancer Sucks! banner at a contest by you.

Corliss was my wife.  She passed away from cancer in 2003.  Daughters are ZoĆ« age 10 and Lexi age 7.  I have worked as a Manager of a Litigation Department for 22 years at a Chicago Law Firm.  Hobbies outside of BBQ are coaching girls soccer, collecting Higgins Glass, golf and hiking.  Cook in approximately 25 contests a year.  So far this year we have cooked in Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Utah, New York, Ohio and Wisconsin.

I donate all profits from my BBQ team back to my foundation for cancer research.  To date, we have donated almost $2k this year alone!!!

When Scott won the Jack Daniels World Championship BBQ
contest, considered by most, as the grand daddy of them all! When I first read this at the
BBQ Forun.com, it really choked me up... Below is an email I received from Scott and I'd like to thank him for sharing this with us.

My dad, Ken Johnson, was diagnosed with a rare cancer about 2 weeks prior to the Jack.  I was not wanting to go, so I could be home with him and my mom.  The Wednesday before (2 days before), my dad told me that I should go and follow my dream.  All he said was to "bring home the hardware"...  My dad passed away as I was heading to the cooks meeting at 2:00 pm that Friday.  I decided to stay and dedicate the contest to my dad.  My sister flew home, so she could comfort my mom and start taking care of the arrangements.  As it turns out, I was able to win the hardware and yes, I did bring them home for him.  While he wasn't there to see them, it was a comfort to be able to bring them to him, as I know how proud he would of been of me and my cause.  I know that he and Corliss were both looking over me and smiling down on our accomplishments that weekend.
